Need Help Finding These Special Products?
It’s still that time of year when the girl scouts are out and about selling cookies. We always buy a few boxes because we love helping the girls. And we love the cookies too. But I had trouble finding a table I could buy from last weekend because I was rushing around shopping.
My sister then told me about this wonderful lookup page on the Girl Scouts’ website. You type in your zip code and it shows you where to look for girls selling the cookies. What could be better? I am already planning on my next outing for cookies!
And that page reminded me of another website I could not live without. I am sure you have heard about it. It’s called Gas Buddy and it tells you where people in your area have bought gas recently. It also tells you what they paid for the gas.
This is an important service but my husband and I found out the hard way that you have to be careful of those really low gas prices. We rushed across town last week to take advantage of a 10-cent savings on gas. How could the gas be so cheap I wondered. Well, hubby realized what it was as soon as we drove up.
He pointed out that we were buying a lower-octane gas. I am not sure what octane does but I remember my Dad used to search for higher octane gas when I was very young. It has something to do with the car running better. And the gas we bought did not last us as long as a normal tank.
We also use the grocery store websites to look up stores we want to visit when there are specials with limits on them. If I can buy a lot of soup at a great price but have to travel to three stores I will do that if I can find the same deals at all three stores. I don’t just go for one item. I go for several. If I can save $50 off a $100 grocery bill then why not save $150 off a $300 bill?
